Malco Review: "Great product for homes that take extra abuse"

I own a cottage on Lake Michigan that, when we bought it, looked from the outside like it was going to rot away. All the moisture, long winters, rain and hail reek havoc on wood, and I'd imagine aluminum or vinyl would get pretty banged up, so cement board was our only real option. The stuff looks great, and to the touch it really feels substantial. It was about 10 years ago that it was installed, and while it does have a bit of mold growing on it (probably my fault) all in all it's still like new. I can't even imagine what would happen to truly damage this stuff, it's like living in a nuclear shelter. I'd go as far to say that if a large gale storm were to come in, our cottage would be just fine. We paid a private contractor to do the install, so I can't speak for ease of install, but to anyone living in an area where the weather can be unrelenting, cement board, especially from Malco gets two thumbs up from me, I really couldn't ask for more. If you've never seen the stuff up close, go find a house with it and take an up close look, it's truly impressive!
